Here we have "No Laughing Matter" my thesis film that takes a look at horror as a means to convey discomfort and a dark look at human emotion.

The title sequence for my Thesis; everything is slowing coming together!

August 2018-October 2018: The first step in this process was to write the script. I wanted to make a nice polished but terrifying horror movie so I didn't have to put myself in a state of mind of overthinking everything. I also wanted to take something that was real enough to a lot of people in the form of the clown sighting that happened. This first draft had the working title of "Clowning Around." After two months of writing and rewriting the script was done and had new final title of "No Laughing Matter."
October 2018-November 2018: As I wrote the script I needed actors whose schedules would work nicely with mine. I chose two people from my major to help me; Taryn played the character Tim and James played the character Jeff. Roo played the part of the clown. She has been in, and helped on many of my previous short films as well as having extensive theater background. We started shooting October 25th to get exterior shots that required all three actors then had two shoots in November (8th and 15th). One was just for the shots between Taryn and James, and the last was with all characters for the ending. This meant that matching the scenes in terms of lighting, placement, and wardrobe was a very important part.

10/22/2018: Teaser for "No Laughing Matter" This is to act as not only material to get my major space ready and on board with my final, as well as editing practice to match tone and feel of found footage and my own footage. It also tested my abilities in color correction, ingenuity and creativity as I had 30 seconds to evoke a feel and general gist of a story.
